L to R: Aux. Lt. Jim Riccio, Aux. Officer Colby Weston, Aux. Officer David Jones, Aux. Sgt. Greg Johnson

Belmont Auxiliary Police Mountain Bike Patrol Unit - Started in the Summer of 2007, the Belmont Auxiliary Police Mountain Bike Patrol Unit currently consists of: Aux. Lt. Jim Riccio, Aux. Officer Colby Weston, Aux. Officer David Jones, Aux. Sgt. Greg Johnson, Aux. Officer Gerry Benoit and Aux. Sgt. Bob McQuaid. Officers usually patrol in pairs, and the bikes can be a highly effective way of patrolling town properties such as schools, town buildings, playgrounds, and athletic fields during the day and after dark.

To be certified for the Mountain Bike Patrol Unit, officers must complete an intensive 3-day police bicycle course at the Foxboro MPTC location. This is the same course required for full-time bike patrol officers and includes instruction in riding, pursuit, and defensive tactics pertinent to police bike patrol operations.
